It’s our goal to be a single, safe place to store your skydiving logbook.

We recognize many skydivers maintain their logbook in digital formats or within other apps. It’s important for us to give skydivers the ability to easily transition to (or export from) Boogie as they please.

The rest of this post describes how to import your logbook from a spreadsheet (exported as a CSV file). If you want to learn how import your logbook from the “Skydiving Logbook” app, check out this post.

To request the ability to import from another source email us at support@boogie.io.

Overview

  1. Download Boogie’s Google Sheet template
  2. Fill out your logbook
  3. From Google Sheets, download as (or save as) a CSV file
  4. Import your CSV into Boogie - Skydiving Logbook

Format Documentation

1. Download Boogie’s Google Sheet template

Download one of our Google Sheets to get started.

Boogie Template (Imperial) Boogie Template (Metric)

2. Fill out your logbook

You’ll start with 10 sample logs, be sure to replace those logs with your logs. There are notes within the column header cells for additional clarity and examples. You can also find additional details here.

Rules for success:

  1. Don’t rename column headers.
  2. Don’t add or delete column headers.
  3. Make sure every log has the “date” column filled out.

3. From Google Sheets, download as (or save as) a CSV file

When you’re finished entering your logbook, download it as a Comma-separated values (.csv) format.

How to download a .csv file from Google Sheets for web:

  1. Go to File > Download as > Comma-separated Values (.csv, current sheet)
  2. Once downloaded, move your CSV to a location you can access from your mobile device.

How to save a .csv file from Google Sheets mobile app:

  1. Tap the three dots in the upper right-hand corner
  2. Tap Share & Export
  3. Tap Save As…
  4. Tap CSV (current sheet)
  5. Remember where you save the file. You’ll have to find it and select it when you import your CSV into Boogie (described in point 4).

4. Import your CSV into Boogie - Skydiving Logbook

  1. Within Boogie, tab the Settings icon
  2. Tap Import Spreadsheet (CSV)
  3. Tap Choose File
  4. Find and select your CSV file.
    1. You remembered where you saved your file, right ;)

It will take a moment for Boogie to process your CSV…

Congratulations! Your logbook has been imported to Boogie.

What if the import failed?

Make sure your logbook adheres to the format documentation detailed below.

Common issues:

  1. Make sure every row has the date column filled out in the correct format.
  2. Make sure no columns have been renamed.
  3. If you’ve done those things, and the import still fails email us at support@boogie.io.
